I wrote a review for this crappy program but the istore would not accept the file name Just terrible Location can never, never be found

Good simple map for people who plan to have a trip to japan. Acceptable details and accuracy. However, the search function do needs some improvement. In general, a fairly good free app.

Hi everybody, I am an International student in Japan Nagasaki. This Application is the best. belive me. I have tryed most of them and I belive this aplication is the best. I you need a navigator i recommend you to use it. best regards Masoud Akbari

The inbuilt Map app requires I enter the Japanese address via kanji. Well thats a lot of extra work. This app has a drill down menu for all addresses in romaji. No keyboard required. Just select prefecture, then city, then town name, then block number, and lastly the building number. Fast and easy. This so far in testing has accurately shown the locations of places, whereas the inbuilt Map app sent me to the wrong area twice. Four stars for making all that easier and more accurate for me. It is as stated before not a true navigation app. You wont get turn by turn directions here.

Cant believe I wasted my money on this (bought when I just bought the phone), There are other FREE maps waaaay better than this, No search function - what the,,,,,,,,! A bit more effort and they could have made a good English language GPS navigator out of this but as it is - useless!

Great app for traveling within Japan. Cant wait to see how this evolves!

Have no reason to use an application like this if exists the google maps...

Since I dont support google, is for me a big reason using it and I love it. 2nd thing is my maps in iPad is not working since 2 weeks. Thats why I needed this one! Yeah, good work guys!

Got an "unexpected error" when asking for directions to the station. Slow, buggy on Watch. Not a turn-by-turn navi system. Native Maps app is better.

Google use Zenrin data on their maps! Better navigation because you can rotate map! Show English names, on IPad maps by google you must watch names in Kana. But one wish. Add search field please! Travelers sometime not know so good Japan for find in list.

The map is pretty useful, a little pricey. I like being able to use it in both English and Japanese. It helps me navigate a little better.

This map is very useful in japan. The only thing downside is that the maps take too long to load.

Slow loading, cant determine location in smaller cities, other than that okay. Fix these problems and the app would be great!

As a native English speaker, the Kanji-only Google map app that comes with the iPhone is a constant source of frustration. Japan Map provides detailed maps, reasonable load times, and - best of all - Romaji names for cities, railway stations, streets, and important buildings. While some reviwers have complained about slow load times, I find them comparable to the standard Google map app. Why only 4 stars? It does have some issues with location lock in more rural areas, and the address search can be a bit tough to navigate through when looking for smaller, incorporated, municipalities. Worth $9? Probably not... But, in my opinion, - for anyone who spends any amount of time in Japan - its worth every penny of the $5 sale price.

I was drinking the other night in Nagoya. Book marked my hotel in the event I was to get lost. I did get lost. I used my current location feature with frequent updates to navigate myself back. I could locate my current point and where I wanted to go although without any direction indicators on the program deciding which direction to move in became a major challenge. I made it back. But it wasnt easy.

This is a good map but thats about it. English is great if you cant read the Japan map but you still have to navigate on your own. If you purchase this app you should be able to integrate it into the Iphone map app (the maps are made by the same company) so then I can get driving and walking directions that I can follow. If you just need a map to read go ahead and buy but if you need to get somewhere get a girlfriend who speaks the language to show you around.

Just a quick note: dont be confused by the name of the app. This app has no "navi" (or navigation) function -- in other words, you cant punch in your destination and get turn by turn directions (or any directions, as far as I can tell) for how to get there. If you want maps with names spelled in roman characters, this is great, but that is as far as it goes.

this app not only costs too much for what it does, it does it POORLY. if you are coming to japan and need a map, you would be better off using the native google maps app on the phone. or get a paper map. by the time you figure out how to search for a location(or if you ever do), you could have opened up a map book and found it. this app is complete crap. i wish i could give it zero stars...

This app requires wifi or cellular service to work. Google maps does a better job if you have cellular service. I was looking for an app to use offline when traveling in Japan that does not require cellular service and this isnt it!
