Google map works better navigation tool.

First off, someone gave this 1 star because it says Sea of Japan? Get over yourself, Korea. Second, as I got this app free, I really like it. I probably would not have paid full price for it, but I really like how easy it is to switch from Japanese to English, and for me it loads faster than google maps. I wish the maps were a bit cleaner though.

You guys are making a mistake. Not Sea of Japan, but East Sea. I think you all should know there is no Sea of Japan. Naming fail :(

Of course there is a Sea of Japan just like there is Taiwan. The fact that you do not agree about the politics doesnt mean the rest of us have to play your silly game.

I planning on hitting Japan sometime in the near feature and having a nicely built make of it for FREE on the iPad is great!

The app refuses to install on my iPhone 4 with the latest iOS release with iTunes complaining the app requires a more recent iOS version.

This app helps me in exactly the way I want: learning the location and names of Japanese prefectures and cities. It even has a Japanese language version to help me recognize the kanji. It would be amazing if it didnt have to load when you zoom in or out (even though its quick). I dont know about how helpful this would be actually getting around in Japan, but I like this app. You should definitely get it to learn the names of prefectures.

Good: the map display is nice; having a complete Romaji option is nice. (Compare Google Maps, which shows a lot of Kanji, even when you are supposedly reading in English mode.) Bad: SLOOOOW! Long delay to load whenever you zoom in or out, or move the map. (Are the servers in Japan? Would it be faster if I were using it from Japan instead of the US? I guess Ill find out next month.) No legend — you have to guess what some of the symbols mean. No search by name means search is almost useless — you have to know the prefecture / district of a location to find it!

Nice to have romaji. Nicer to. Instantly see J because I have to see the kanji. Nice maps. Works smoothly w/4S. Free (thanks).

Desperately need more (or as an option how many) tiles to cache offline, so that I can use I in Japan without paying 3G data fees.

If you are looking for an app to replace the piece of garbage that the iPhone map app became in ios6, this is not it. This is a digital version of a paper map. You can find and mark places. But it provides neither directions nor navigation. A paper map is more functional.

Needs data or wifi. I was in Japan for two weeks, and this map is useless.

Utterly useless app. Barely shows any detail. Has no information. No directions. Why would anyone even spend the time to make this app?

Enough said. Used to be nice and clean. Added: So that were clear, Im happy to pay for map apps; I have about 10. I just dont trust adverts.
